Audley End House - Year 1

Year 1 spent a most enjoyable day at Audley End House recently, learning how people lived in Victorian times. The children behaved impeccably and were completely engrossed as they re-enacted the roles of household staff from the period. They even got to look behind the scenes in the servant’s quarters on the top floor normally out of bounds to the general public!

Congratulations to our Royal Academy of Arts Winner - Sofya Nikitina

Sancton Wood once again has achieved high recognition for its artwork. A big thank you to Mrs Sobanda for organising the Infant entries into the Royal Academy of Arts and Sightsavers painting competition.
This year's theme was 'I care about.' Sofya, who was in Year 2 at the time, won a fantastic prize of having her work displayed at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, as well as a fun day at The London Aquaruium and several other surprises. Keep an eye on the next newsletter to see how she enjoyed her day.
Professor Maurice Cockrill RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy of Arts was one of the head judges of all the winning paintings. He said: ‘I’ve judged the competition for a few years now, and am always amazed by the imagination, creativity and enthusiasm of the aspiring artists that enter.’
Thousands of paintings were sent in all using this year's theme. The three national winners, the 33 regional winners and runners up were selected by a team of judges as the most original and creative and will feature in an exhibition in the cafe at the Royal Academy of Arts from the 14 October till the 23 November.
‘Through my eyes I care about the dolphins and their habitat and the changing seasons.’ Sofya Nikitina.
