Sport - Thorpe Hall
October 2011

On Thursday 20th of October 12 pupils from the juniors represented the school at the Thorpe Hall team cross country event in South End On Sea. 13 schools took part in the event; each year having a team of four. Our best result was the Year 5 boys event, when with 2 year 4 boys included in the team they came a respectable 6th place. Our girls year 5 team which again consisted of one year 4 and one year 3 pupil came an amazing 7th. Team captain Charlie Norrish performed his duties admirably and set a great example for the reast of his team mates. Every one produced some good runs ,but Lilly Mae Ransome stood out as she only dropped one position when running against girls two years older than herself. James Tuncliffe Wilson also ran a good, fast leg of the race.
Indoor Athletics - Year 4 - October 2011
St Bedes School

On Tuesday 18th of Oct, 11 Year 4 pupils were invited to an indoor athletics meet at St Bedes school in Cambridge. The children performed throwing, jumping and hurdling activities. All the children enjoyed it and thought it was great fun. Our pupils were put in mixed teams with St Albans and St Lawerence pupils. Once again the behavior of our pupils was exceptional. Freddie Stevenson, Esme Davison, Susie Norrish and James Tunnicliffe Wilson had the highest totaled athletic scores and we look forward to hearing if any of those four are invited to the next round. Well done to all our pupils and it is lovely to see them all competing for the school.
Well Done to Griffins who won the Junior Mixed House Football. Their captain Oscar Williams and vice captain Lizzy Roberts organised and motivated their team ensuring they achieved the best from all their house team mates.
Osmington Bay - September 2011
Sancton Wood School Uses 2012 Olympic Sailing Site

17 very lucky and athletic pupils in Year 6 spent a week in September sailing on the new Olympic water sports site near Weymouth. It was part of their annual visit to Osmington Bay in Dorset.
The pupils travelled by train and taxi and were complimented on both journeys on their impeccable behaviour and manners – they were a pleasure to take away. My thanks to Mrs Taylor, Miss Bordoli and Mr Williams who worked tremendously hard to make sure the children enjoyed the week.
In September 2012 we are going the day after the Paralympics finish – another treat to look forward to, Year 5!

I.S.A Regional Swimming Gala
6th October 2011

On Thursday 6th Oct 15 junior pupils were taken to the I.S.A Regional swimming gala in Ipswich. 11 schools took part, some who have their own swimming pools. The pupils swam an individual race and a relay. Our best three swimmers of the day were
Ella Chaplin who came 3rd in the Year 6 Butterfly and 4th in the Year 6 Freestyle,
Evie Fuller who came 3rd in the Year 4 Backstroke
Olivia Hudson who came 3rd in the Year 5 Backstroke.
Our best boy swimmer was Freddie Stevenson who came 4th in the Year 4 Backstroke. He performed so well he was added to the Year 6 relay team.
Our Year 6 girls relay team, of Lizzy Roberts, Michelle Santos, Ella Chaplin and Lara Cin (Yr 5) came a remarkable 3rd in the Year 6 Relay race.
Finally are overall position was 5th out of 11 schools, this was an absolutely fantastic achievement and our highest ever position.
Well done to all the other swimmers who took part and swam their best for the school. The great behavior of the pupils was commented on many times and we must say thank you to Mrs Bordoli for making the Juniors such a pleasure to take away on trips. Lastly a huge thank you to Mrs Taylor who has a very limited time with the pupils and enables non club swimmers to enter these galas and compete at such a high level.
