This is the final netball outing for this fantastic group of girls. I have been coaching some of them since year 3. I could not have wished for a nicer team to have coached.
They started the tournament by beating Parkside 2-0, Beating Netherhall 5-2, drawing with Bottisham 3-3 and St Bedes 2-2. I then had to tell the girls the good news: that they had come first in the group stage and had made the final! Then the bad news: that we had to play St Mary’s.
In the final the girls played so well and were leading after the first half 5-3. Jessica and Darcy in defence marked and rebounded like professionals. Elicia, Beth and Martina marked their opponents tightly forcing errors from St Mary’s.
Lizzy was the player of the tournament and continuously worked hard, making pin point accurate passes and intercepting the ball frequently. Michelle and Zahara put the ball in the net from a variety of distances.
Sancton Wood won the final 9-6.
