Sports Report | Year 5 & 6 Mixed Tag Rugby Competition

Mixed Year 5 & 6 Tag Rugby team tournament at Woodlands Schools, Great Warley.

Tag Rugby is a wonderful and inclusive game for all genders to work together, running at maximum speed and organising tactics.  The weather and grounds at Woodlands school were perfect for the day.

Sancton Wood started off a little slow in the first match, having repeated trys scored against them in the first half.  After a quick review with Mr Payne at half time, Sancton Wood won their second half but were still behind in total points.  With 5 more matches SW were focused to achieve on this day and went on to deliver some outstanding play.  SW won their next game, drew the third, fourth and lost the 5th game.  SW then found themselves in the plate competition; the identical place that they were in last year at the same tournament.

The team they faced was a team they had beat earlier and the opposition threw everything they could at Sancton Wood.  SW hit back with several tries and every player was psyched up to succeed.  The final whistle blew and SW had lost the game by 1 try.

It was a great day, good rugby, good weather and the students had another fantastic time
