Pupils at Sancton Wood School had much to celebrate when they received their GCSE results this summer, achieving the strongest set of GCSE outcomes in the school’s recent history.
This year’s cohort delivered exceptional results across a broad range of subjects, with 96% of all GCSE grades awarded at grades 4-9, 85% at grades 5-9 and nearly half (48%) awarded at the top grades 7-9. Particularly impressive were the results in English and Mathematics, where 50% of all grades achieved were at grades 7-9.
On average, pupils took home nine GCSEs and achieved passes in all nine subjects, reflecting the consistency of performance across the cohort and the strength of outcomes across the year group.
Pupils performed strongly across the curriculum, with Mathematics proving a particular success, where 53% of grades were awarded at grades 7-9 and 96% at grades 4-9. In English Language and Literature, 95% of grades were awarded at grades 4-9, with almost half (48%) achieving grades 7-9.
This year’s results also highlight the exceptional progress pupils make during their time at Sancton Wood. Analysis shows that pupils achieved an average of 1.2 grades above their CAT4 predictions, demonstrating outstanding value-added performance. Even more impressively, pupils who began their journey at Sancton Wood in the Prep School achieved an average of 2 grades above expectations, highlighting the long-term impact of a Sancton Wood education.
As a school educating children from the age of 1 to 16 years, Sancton Wood is uniquely placed to support each child’s development over the long term. The data shows that the longer pupils spend at the school, the greater the progress they make, reflecting the cumulative benefits of personalised teaching, strong pastoral support and a deep understanding of every child’s individual strengths.
Richard Settle, Principal of Sancton Wood School, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with this year’s GCSE results. Achieving a 96% pass rate and seeing almost half of all grades awarded at 7-9 is a tremendous accomplishment and reflects the hard work, resilience and ambition of our pupils, supported by our dedicated staff and families. What makes me most proud, however, is the young people behind these results. Year 11 leave Sancton Wood with happy memories, strong friendships, confidence in themselves and a firm foundation from which to grow and thrive. We wish every member of this year’s cohort every success in the future.”
We congratulate all of our Year 11 pupils on their achievements and look forward to following their future successes as they progress to sixth form and beyond.
