Students earn Crest Discovery Award…

I am so proud of my students who participated in the STEM club, “Can You Survive a Zombie Apocalypse?” and earned the CREST Discovery Award.

Rest assured, if a zombie apocalypse ever happens, our students will be ready to save the world—using science to defeat the zombies!

In case you’re not familiar, the CREST Award programme is the UK’s largest national award scheme. It encourages young learners to explore, experiment, and excel in STEM. Through this programme, students develop valuable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, project management, and a deeper understanding of the scientific method. They also enhance their scientific knowledge in fun and engaging ways.

As a STEM Ambassador, I’m passionate about promoting hands-on science, especially for primary schools and KS3 students. These age groups have the freedom to engage deeply with exciting projects without the pressure of upcoming GCSE exams. It’s through STEM clubs like this that children discover a genuine love for science, as they enjoy practical work without worrying about grades.

At Sancton Wood, we are committed to offering strong enrichment opportunities in science. Our goal is to show that science is accessible to everyone, can be fun, and serves as a fantastic way to learn through enjoyment.

I can’t wait for the next adventure with my STEM clubbers!
