Sancton Wood pupils receive fantastic results at GCSE!

We are so proud of all the students who received their GCSE results today – with an amazing 100 per cent of students achieving 5 or more A*- C grades.

A total of 16 Year 11 students, five of whom have been with us since nursery, sat their GCSEs and IGCEs across a range of 16 different subjects, with all pupils being awarded at least five grades each, including key subject areas such as Maths and English.

Furthermore, almost half (43%) the year group scooped top A* and A grades in a least one subject.

Stand out stories include one student who achieved 11 A* and A grades across a wide array of subjects including Drama, Biology and History. As well as another who received an impressive full marks on her English Language paper.

Sancton Wood also saw a group of Year 10 students sit some of their GCSEs a year early, two of whom hit top A* grades in Maths and French.

Headteacher at Sancton Wood School, Richard Settle, said: “Results day is always such an exciting time at the school. There’s a real mixture of anticipation and nerves in the air, and it’s such a pleasure to see students’ faces when they discover they’ve achieved the grades they were aiming for.

“As with last year, we are absolutely thrilled with how our Year 11 students performed and it’s incredible to see how our school is bucking the national trend by continuing to improve year-on-year. An A*-C pass rate of 100 per cent is brilliant and a real testament to how hard our students and teachers have worked over the past year.

“As a non-selective school, we work hard to ensure all of our students achieve the best academic results as possible. We tailor all of our teaching based on their individual needs, goals and learning styles so that they have the ability to learn and progress at a comfortable and realistic pace.”
