A Successful First Open Day Marks Launch of Innovative Hybrid Schooling at Sancton Wood

Today marked a milestone at Sancton Wood School as we celebrated a successful first Open Day for our brand-new hybrid learning programme. Families, students, and educators came together to explore this exciting new offering—one that promises to redefine flexible education in Cambridge.

Sancton Wood is proud to be the latest school in the Dukes Education family to launch this innovative model, which blends four days of live online learning with one day of in-person, hands-on education. Designed for pupils aged 11–16, the programme is especially suited to those who require more flexibility, including elite athletes, students with medical needs, or those who thrive in a more personalised learning environment.

Building on the strong foundations of the programme already running at London Park School Mayfair, the hybrid approach offers the best of both worlds: academic structure and independence, while still fostering a sense of community and support.

Richard Settle, Principal of Sancton Wood School, shared his enthusiasm at today’s event:
“This initiative offers a flexible learning model that blends traditional schooling elements with home education benefits. We’re keen to welcome students who might thrive in this alternative environment whilst upholding our commitment to academic excellence and community values.”

The Cambridge launch represents an exciting new chapter for hybrid education at Dukes, and discussions are already underway to expand the model to sixth form students via St Andrew’s College, Cambridge.

Aatif Hassan, Founder and Chairman of Dukes Education, commented:
“Hybrid learning can be truly transformative for certain families and pupils. We’re proud to pioneer this forward-thinking educational approach.”

We extend a warm thank you to all the families and guests who joined us today. Your interest and support made the Open Day a fantastic success.
